YatraGenie.com, an online bus ticketing and
cab booking platform, has launched city taxi and outstation taxi rental
services in Bengaluru. YatraGenie will introduce 100 cabs within the
city and 50 cabs for outstation travel to start with.
In the coming months the company said it will partner with cab operators to introduce 1000 cabs within the city and 500 taxis for outstation travel.
Renil Komitla, President and CEO, YatraGenie said, “The growing demand for city taxi and outstation taxi services in Bengaluru has prompted us to venture into this market. The taxi service market is projected to significantly grow in the coming years. Clearly the market is underserved and there is still room for new players that can innovate and serve customers better, not just in metro cities but also in two tier cities.”
The city taxi service will be charged at Rs 100 for first 6 kilometers and Rs 15 per extra kilometer. Apart from Bangalore, YatraGenie has already launched services in Nellore, Tirupati, Gudur, Kavali and Vijayawada. By the end of 2015, Komitla said YatraGenie would expand its operations to 65 cities and towns with an inventory of 25,000 cabs.
